Junior summer hockey programme

Upskill hockey are running another great programme over the summer school holidays – the emphasis is on learning, practising, development and fun for players 7-17 years of all abilities from beginner to elite.

The programme runs 1 night per week for 6 weeks at Kapiti, Elsdon, Fraser and NHS. Dates are:

15 – 26 November 2010, and
10 January – 4 February 2011

From our neighbouring vineyard comes an extremely quaffable blended white wine. 62% Semillon and 38% Sauvignon Blanc, made in the classic style of dry white Bordeaux. Excellent lightly chilled as an aperitif, try it with seafood, poultry, cheese or simply enjoy by itself.

Black plum and red berry flavours are supported by gentle oak and soft tannins to give a long and balanced finish. Excellent food-friendly style and great current drinking or cellar for up to 3 or 4 years if you have the will power!

TAHUNA – Merlot 2007* – $13.00 per bottle (RRP $18.95)
Great colour and aromas of plum and dark berryfruit, typical of Hawke’s Bay Merlot. Silky tannins give it a soft finish with good depth of fruit. Fantastic with hearty pastas, beef and New Zealand lamb.

Masters competition

Wellington hockey has organised another fun and social 6 week masters competition and we have entered a mens and womens team.

The competition is 6 October – 14 November and will be on Wednesday nights for men, and Sunday afternoons for women.

More information will be available closer to the start date – but we do need a volunteer to manage each team, please let me know if you are interested.

Note – Women are to be 30+ years of age on 1 January 2010 and Men 35+ years of age on 1 January 2010

Onslow college boys team up for promotion

The Onslow 2 boys coached by one of our senior players Mark Johnson have won their grading round and are now up for promotion.

Promotion game is against St Pats Town on Wed this week (23 June) @ 4.30pm at NHS1 v St Pats Town.

New addition to the club

Congratulations to Kiri and Apera on the birth of their daughter Shayla – born 29 June 2010, 9.8lbs.

All the family is well.

We look forward to seeing her soon – I’m sure the P1 women will be more happy to sub if it means a cuddle on the sideline.

Premier 1 women’s team

Our Premier 2 women have been promoted to Premier 1 after beating Northern 3-1 on Sunday 2 May.

It will be a tough season for the team, but with the support of Kiri and Tim we know they are up for the challenge. Congratulations girls and we wish you all the best for the team.
